Forus Ltd is planning a solar power plant at Punkalaidun

When completed, the power plant will annually produce approximately 72 GWh of renewable electricity, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of around 40,000 apartment units.

The plant is expected to produce electricity during 2027.

General information

Forus Ltd has made preliminary agreements with landowners for leasing land in Isosuo peat production area for the construction of a solar power plant.

The project area covers approximately 187 hectares, of which around 117 hectares will be equipped with solar panels. The goal of the project is to enable industrial-scale solar energy production in the Isosuo area of Punkalaidun municipality. According to the plans, the solar power plant will begin generating renewable electricity by 2027. Once completed, the plant is expected to produce approximately 72 GWh of renewable energy annually, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of about 40,000 apartment units.

The aim is to develop solar power in the most responsible manner. This involves continuous consideration of biodiversity and advancing carbon neutrality goals. The project's funding, technical planning, and construction are overseen by the Finnish project company of the Danish Better Energy. The company will also remain the owner of the power plant and be responsible for electricity production and sales.

Location

The project area is located in the Isosuo peat production area southwest of Punkalaidun.
